“Glued window scantlings” and “glued door scantlings” are semi-finished products intended for the manufacturing of wooden windows and doors, distinguished by positively improved quality parameters in comparison to solid wood and meeting the water-resistance requirements according to the EN204/D4 standard and thermal resistance requirements according to the EN-14257WATT 91 standard.
These semi-finished products are free of any wood defects that reduce its quality, durability and visual value. The multi-layer laminating with the use of the PVC glue and the alternating layout of fibres in individual layers clearly increase the resistance of such elements to warping and cracking in comparison to solid wood.
The above indicated advantages of the “glued windows scantlings” and “glued door scantlings” have certain limitations though: the moisture level of the glued wood should not exceed 12% and the adhesive-bonded joints exposed to constant activity of atmospheric factors are subject to ageing and, in consequence, lasting damage to the (seemingly) durable adhesive bond.
The windows and external wooden doors manufactured from this type of semi-finished products are typified by certain basic disadvantages:
In order to eliminate the above-described phenomena that have negative impact on the perception of wooden windows and doors, the DOMINOWOOD Company is constructing a new manufacturing plant in the heart of the Knyszyńska Forest, in the town of Czarna Białostocka.
On the area of ca. 20,000 m2 is being built one of the most modern “glued window and door scantlings” manufacturing plants in Europe. In that plant will be manufactured the innovative “WOOD+ EPI GLUE” products. These are semi-finished goods glued in layers, used for production of windows and doors with the application of EPI glue. It is glue based on emulsion polymer isocyanate, the joint made with this glue is resistant to the impact of variable atmospheric conditions.
According to the research conducted by the IFT Rosenheim Window Technology Institute in Germany, EPI glues are typified by a clearly better resistance to water in comparison to traditional polyvinyl acetate glues and they also obtain results that are twice as good within the scope of thermal resistance according to EN-14257WATT 91.
